A porn set, 2014, photo by me
I have a theory that every brand can be described in three words. The three words that describe this newsletter, Valleywood, are sexy, creative, and thoughtful. And so …
Remember how I figured out that one of the world’s biggest adult production companies had office space a couple miles from where I live in Burbank? Well, it turns out they had, as I’d suspected, moved out. Guess who’s moving in? Netflix. The Real Deal: “The streaming giant is leasing 171,000 square feet for its first dedicated animation studio.” Hope they clean the floors first.
I took this photo of a porn star picking her way through a backyard somewhere in the San Fernando Valley in the early 2000’s. Lucite heels and weeds, folks.
What I’m reading: “A Fuller Picture of Artemisia Gentileschi.” Gentileschi created her famous painting of Susannah and the Elders in 1610, when she was 17. “Perhaps this Susanna does not want the men to identify her or see her anguish; it’s equally likely that she does not want to lay eyes on her persecutors.”
Get Your Booty to the Poll. (And vote blue.)
Have you ever heard of “erogenous zoning”? It’s a way of sidelining adult businesses, but it’s complicated to enact because “adult entertainment also has rights under the First Amendment free speech clause.” (See also: obscenity.)
Don’t wake me, I’m dreaming.
The eyes have it, as you can see:

“A Clockwork Orange,” dir. Stanley Kubrick, 1971
“Minority Report,” dir. Steven Spielberg, 2002
I was excited to find the second season of “PEN15” had arrived on Hulu. This show is insane, and you should watch it. The second season is different — a little less gross out and a little more thoughtful. There’s a very lovely finale homage to the spectacle that is theater and how complicated it is to make it come alive.
Don’t miss Clayton Cubitt’s magical, transporting voyeur drone series. If you’re looking to escape these earthly chains, these images offer a far better view.
Apparently, Tyga has an OnlyFans (ergo: porn, mainstream, etc.).
